Seagate Driver For Mac Not Readable
I have a seagate 500GB external USB hard disk (which has ~365G used). I am able to view all content (videos/music/photos) on my samsung LED tv (via USB port). But it is not showing up in my laptop (tried with both windows xp & windows 7). Infact, windows almost stalls if I try to double click on external HDD (E:/). Can you please guide me to a get the issue fixed. One possibility I see is disk partition is corrupted (from NTFS to RAW).
[macOS] ext hdd not showing after Sierra update My external Seagate is not showing up on the desktop anymore after the update. In system information under USB I see information on it.
But not sure how to fix it without re-formatting. I saw some threads answered by fixwire2, where just changing disk name in Disk manager has helped folks. Is it advisable in my case as well? I don't want to re-format by mistake.
Welcome to the community, TRWRAJ! Indeed, it seems like your external might have a corrupted file system if it appears in RAW format in Disk Management. I'd recommend you to use your HDD manufacturer's diagnostic tool to test its health and SMART status. You should be able to find the software on their website. As for your data, I guess you could try using third-party recovery tools at your own risk and attempt retrieving your files.
Here's a thread that you might find useful: Changing the drive letter in Disk Management won't help if the format is RAW though. Hope this helps you.
