Why Do Pdoplr Chooce Mac Oved Pc For Editing

Hello, I have been thinking about this. I use a PC and I love Lightworks and think it is better than APple's Final Cut Pro.

The majority of students I've seen have macs and I'm wondering why over pc. For Mac users, why did you choose it over pc?:) Edit: save* not. Feb 07, 2013  Yahoo Answers Sign in Sign in Mail ⚙ Help Account Info; Help; Suggestions; Send Feedback.

While there are some things I like about Mac, I use Windows 95% of the time. I have a really good PC and was wondering why do people say Macs are better for video editing?

Also by today's standards in GPUs and CPUs are they really better? Can a PC with the same or better specs do the same thing? In my opinion they can. I was curious as to what people's opinions were here however. Saying Mac is better is a hold over from the 90's when the graphics support was actually better on the Mac platform. The 2000's saw PC technology catch up to Mac. Now it's an even bet.

Which OS do you get along with better and how important is money to you is the big question on Mac vs PC for the most part. They each do different things better than the other, but for the most part is a wash. My $.02 I agree with you guys 100%.

It is just some of my friends who disagree. When they ask me what I use to edit my videos, they are like, 'You edit on a PC?' I tell them all of the time it doesn't really matter what you edit video on (or music and other media for that matter) as long as you have good parts inside your computer that can do what you need it to do and to complete the job efficiently. By the way I have played around with Linux as well and it has potential. I like it because you can put it on any computer. As for Windows.

I am more familiar with that and if (for an example) I want to design games and so forth, most are made for PC. From my PC I can make installers for Windows, Mac or whatever I need.

By Mac users saying they don't get viruses and other issues is probably not true. Since Mac is an OS that is out there and is becoming more and more popular. THere is going to be someone out there who will write viruses for it as well.

ALso I have heard about bugs which Apple is trying to work out of Mavricks as well. Anyway that is my opinion as well. PLease feel free to continue to share your opinions as well! That is good to know that PCs can now compete with Macs and my PC does pretty well. This is especially true when I tell them about my render times and some students with Macs are like, how do you do that?

Well for one thing I render with my GPU and that makes for better video quality and whatever it can't handle the CPU takes over for that. I learned how to do that using Blender a bit.

I am not proficient in Blender, but I do know a few things that is a very nice 3D software. I am a huge fan of cross-platform and Open Source. One of the reasons I like Lightworks. Mac users saying they don't get viruses and other issues is probably not true.

You can change that 'probably' to 'definitely'. I've just attempted to help a friend clean up a nasty trojan on his Mac. I say 'attempted' there because since I mainly use Windows I wasn't a great deal of help!

One of my arguments a long time ago when a Mac user used the 'I don't get viruses' line was that if Mac was as popular as Windows PCs, Macs would be the primary target for hackers. Even the Linux community advises precautions against viruses and other hacks for Linux distributions. That is good to know that PCs can now compete with Macs and my PC does pretty well. It showed some flaws in a custom broadcast console I was designing. I also used it to help with some design and layout choices in the tile I used for my tub surround in a bathroom remodel. Pretty sweet. Windows has improved a lot over the years, and works best in a 'clean' mode - absent of bloat-ware and add-ons.

OS/X is good as Apple have full control over the hardware/software relationship. Linux is good as it is industrial strength. So then there is personal preference (bias?), cost and applications available on the given platform. Cost: Macs are more expensive than PCs, but the gap appears to be narrowing.

The cost of the major NLEs has tumbled over recent years. $300 for FCPX, $1000 for Avid etc. Are all prices much cheaper than earlier versions. And LW at only $60pa is bargain priced.
