Break Link To Documents In Excel For Mac
When you import text files onto a Prism data table, you can choose to have Prism link the data object to the text file. You then will not be able to edit the data within Prism.
I solved it already. By deleting some 'Data validation'. Then 'Edit links' disappeared and all is OK. Can't Find nor Fix Link to External File. ' nor 'Break Link' do anything. I have used find to try and find the reference but to no avail. Excel / Mac / Office.
But if you edit the file, Prism will update. With Prism Windows, you can also link data from Excel files. To unlink a data object: Right click (control click on the Mac) on the object, choose Data Object >, and then choose Unlink.
If the linked file no longer exists (or has moved or been renamed): Double click on the object. Prism will tell you the file no longer exists, and that message box has an Unlink button. On Prism Mac 5.0a, the message box will stay up, so you then need to click Cancel. To unlink all the objects in a file: (Windows only) It can be very useful to link Excel data to Prism. But if you have lots of links, Prism can slow down, especially if the linked files no longer exist.
Here is an easy way to unlink them all at once. • Go to a data table. • Drop the Edit menu and choose links. • Click on the first linked object in the list. • Hold shift and click on the last linked object.
• Click 'Break Link'. • Confirm that you want to break the link. You will now have an ordinary Prism file with the data self-contained and no links to Excel.
